Yet another "First"

Here we are yet again bringing to you as much of the Greek Isle as I can. Since my last post we have begun work on the editing of the first video for Agro-Tourism on the Island of Paros Greece. This has been a tedious experience, bringing the different editing and video styles of all of us together in one dynamic piece. More to come on that one.

Here you see Kellie and Freddy trapping a tripod in the tree to catch a time laps of food that was brought to the table for dinner for all of us. wow the food was fabulous.

We had a fabulous time on an all day boat ride, we snorkeled had lunch and generally had a great time. Our guide, Peter was a diver with Jacque Cousteau, was full of information and instrumental in helping those that had not been snorkeling before. This was a first for me and I was so impressed with the experience that I am sure that it will not be the last time. In fact just off the beach at our apartments that we are staying in is an area that I intend to snorkel as I am told that there is an underwater city there to see.



We are taking a day trip to Santorini on Sunday I can't wait to see what that island has in store for us as we finish up the first video and embark on the next two that will come of this trip.

Halfway Through :(

Wow 2 weeks gone so fast, I can not believe we have been here this long it has gone by so quickly. The food is unmistakably the best food I have ever had, minus the sea urchin.

The people here are so gracious, even when we are in their faces with a camera. People in the states I do not think would be quite as gracious.


Since I last posted we have done so many wonderful things and met so many wonderful people.

On Tuesday we had lessons in Greek dancing what a blast, although we have yet to use out new dance skills. I am thinking we will have a chance to do just that on Sunday evening they are having a wine and fish festival that we are going to.

Went to the docks at Naousas on Wednesday for another wonderful interview then spent some time taking pics on the dock on a absolutely beautiful day.

We visited the wildlife rescue center and talked to the man that started it. They are doing some really great things going on there to preserve their wildlife.

We interviewed a farmer his son and wife on Friday and they cooked us a beautiful meal that evening with the food they brought in from the farm that morning. What a way to have a meal everything was fabulous.

Donkey Man

It is Thursday morning and we are getting up at 7am to go to town and catch "donkey man" he is a little old man that still sells his fruits and vegetables by walking through the town with his donkey singing about his goods.

Next we had a great cook out with our gracious host Lambis, and some of the people helping us get the interviews was a lot of fun. I tried sea urchin, that didn't work out so well, although it looked very interesting I just couldn't do it but I did try.

I think that we have only had one day that was not warm (some of you might say hot but as you know I love the heat so it has been all good to me) bring on the heat, I can take it.

Last night we went to the Eco Park again and walked the foot paths there what a beautiful place!!!

I asked the bartender if they sold cigarettes he told me no but that he would roll me one. I thought that was one of the sweetest things.

Ah it has finally arrived. We are in Greece!!!



We left Indy on Sunday June 20, 2010 at 2:20 pm and arrived in Athens, Greece at 10:02 am in the morning the following day, then a 4-hour ferry ride to Parikia, Paros, Greece. I have not been on a plain since I was around the age of 8, so this entire experience will be a first for me in almost every way shape or form.





Once in Athens, we had some time to walk around a little bit, it was not quite what I had expected. I was expecting to see drivers on the right side of the cars, and not so many American made cars but there were plenty of those and most of the drivers were on the left side of the car just as it is at home. If you think American drivers are bad just a couple of hours here will change your mind. Here in Greece the drivers seem to have the attitude that they are the only one on the road, and contrary to the US the pedestrian does not have the right of way. All is good though just watching out for vehicles approaching. After having a day or two to get used to traffic we know to have a heads up for it.



I cannot express what a beautiful country Greece is. The culture is outstanding, deeply rooted in tradition. The hospitality of the people that I have come into contact with as of yet has been exemplarily friendly. I have also been greatly surprised at the food I was afraid that when I came home I would be a vegetarian but I do not think that will be the case anymore as I have found the food is surprisingly good.

We were lucky to be able to attend a traditional festival of the summer solstice the “Fire Jumping Festival”. This is a celebration in which young women burn the May Wreathes that they made in the spring and the young men of the village jump over the fire. What a beautiful celebration.

7:00AM in the morning

I am up like a little child on Christmas day and can not go back to sleep for anything. The plane takes off in exactly 7 hours and 14 minutes. I can't believe how excited I am or can I.

I have never had an opportunity like this in my life and feel like I am going 100 miles a second. I think that I have everything packed that I need but odds are I will get there and well have forgotten a few things. Who knows I could surprise myself. I know I have the important stuff needed for the trip. Let's just pray I make the baggage weight restrictions. (I think I am slightly under but we will see).


Next post will be on the plane, I think planes have wifi or at least I hope they do.
